FAQs

New to Crossfield?  Perhaps you live in another town close by?

We have an open, welcoming environment that we would love to share with you.   We have members in Airdrie, Carstairs, Didsbury and other surrounding communities.

How to get there?  Directions

Located 50km north of Calgary 30 minutes from downtown Calgary; 18 km from Airdrie. Travelling North from Calgary, from Hwy.2A, take the south entrance to town business centre, cross the tracks, turn right and the church is on the corner of Railway Street and Ross Street in the town of Crossfield.

Newcomer?

You are welcome, whether:

single, a couple, a family, or in transition.

You are welcome, because you are a valued child of God.

You are welcome, no matter your background, faith tradition, or experience.

Our hope is that our church can offer you a community in which to know God’s presence, a safe place to ask questions, and an opportunity to grow in understanding as we trust in God’s grace to lead us.

Nervous about walking thru the doors?

Don’t be!  We are a small, rural congregation where walking thru our doors is like going to your friend’s home for dinner… We are very welcoming and eager to treat you like royalty!    If you are joining us, you’ll want to come to church just before 10:oo am so you have time to read the announcements that are displayed on our PowerPoint screen.  Be sure to schedule some time to visit and enjoy a coffee, juice or some snacks after church!  Oh yes, and the bathrooms are located in the hall to the right of our main doors.

Special Needs?

We offer large print bulletins for those who struggle visually with PowerPoint presentations on our dangling screen.  We have a sound system so no one misses anything from the reflection.

We are fully wheelchair accessible and have handicap parking available at the rear of the church with no stairs or gravel to contend with.

Congregational Mix?

Our Congregation is small, close-knit and open!  We value our community and sense of belonging.  We offer every age group in our weekly mix.   Our attendance can range from 20-50 usually made up of a core group of dedicated families, retired couples, teenagers and young children.  We also provide worship services monthly for the seniors at the Rocky View Lodge.  Everyone is welcome to join us for this special afternoon service.

Got Kids?

All babies and children are welcome in the sanctuary during the service. Really! There is an activity area with a little people size table, chairs, crayons, and soft toys for those children who like to be busy.  We welcome the sounds of children enjoying worship. We have a room towards the back of the sanctuary if you choose to have separate space for you and your child.  This is always at your discretion. A large window and overhead speakers make it easy for you to continue to experience the service.

Music?

We are truly blessed to have the gifts and talents of Linda Gatez on our fabulous electronic Grand Piano.  Both contemporary and classic hymns are chosen from both Voices United and More Voices – A collection of contemporary and international music.  If you are gifted in the areas of music, both playing an instrument and singing, we would love to hear from you.

Folks in the congregation who offer their music leadership as former choir member sit in the service and provide their musical support during. This means that you can still sit with your family on Sunday morning AND help us lead the congregation in music.  We enjoy supporting the various musical resources available to us for special services throughout the year.

Dress Code?

We are an open, informal congregation.  Most of us come in casual, very casual,  to business casual dress.

How can I contribute to this church?

All donations are tax deductible.  Weekly envelopes are available but we encourage the use of technology with automatic debit withdrawals. E-mail transfers can be sent to crossfieldunitedfinance@gmail.com. Please contact Lorna Derry at crossfieldunitedfinance@gmail.com if you would like weekly envelopes, information on Pre Authorized Remittance (PAR), Planned Giving or Bequests.

How can I give to my church when I’m not there?

PAR or Pre-Authorized Remittance is a “direct debit” program that allows people to support their church through an automatic monthly withdrawal from either their bank account or credit cards. Our national church, The United Church of Canada, administers this program, following the giver’s wishes including amounts designated for local church expenses and the Mission and Service Fund. As in all pre-authorized programs, givings are debited from givers accounts on a monthly basis and electronically transferred to their local church accounts.  Increasing numbers of people find that monthly direct debiting allows them to intentionally support and honour their local congregation.   PAR sign-up sheets are available at the back of the church or from the office.  You can also donate by e-transfer to crossfieldunitedfinance@gmail.com

How do I arrange a visit with the Minister?

Dave would love to meet with you to discuss your needs or interests either in your home or in her office at the church.  His contact information can be found on this website under “church leadership”.  You can speak with Dave on Sundays at church or contact the office at (403)946-5515.
